A.
The Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Dundee recognizes
the significance of historical buildings and their importance.
B.
The Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Dundee recognizes
the need to establish a Historic District Committee to assist in the
enhancement, perpetuation and use of places, districts, sites, buildings,
structures and other objects having special character or special historical
or aesthetic interest or value.

For the purpose of this chapter, the following terms shall have
the meanings indicated:
Includes sites, buildings, structures and other objects determined
to be of or possess special character or historical or aesthetic interest
or value deserving protection, enhancement, perpetuation and use.
The Board of Trustees hereby declares that the protection, enhancement,
perpetuation and preservation of historic districts is a public purpose
to primote the education, pleasure and general welfare of the citizens
of the village. It is the purpose of this chapter to provide for the
protection, enhancement, perpetuation and preservation of historic
districts for the educational, cultural and economic welfare of the
public; to safeguard the heritage of the Village by preserving those
areas, buildings, etc., which are designated as historic districts;
to strengthen the Village's economic base by stimulation of the
tourist industry; and to improve property values and foster economic
development.

In the name of the Village and with the consent of the Mayor
and the Board of Trustees, the Historic District Committee may apply
for, receive or expend any federal, state or private grant, grant-in-aid,
gift or bequest, with approval of the Village Board of Trustees, in
furtherance of the general purpose of this chapter. The Board of Trustees
shall annually appropriate funds within budget limitations for the
operation of the Committee, and the Committee shall submit an annual
report of its activities to the Mayor and Board of Trustees for approval.
The Committee may also attempt to raise funds through any legal means
to be used in furtherance of this chapter.
