No person or persons, firm, association or corporation shall erect or hang, cause or permit or allow to be erected or hung upon any building owned or occupied by him, it or them, any awning, any part of which shall project in, over or upon any of the streets or public places of the Village of Malverne, unless such awning shall be at least 7 1/2 feet above the sidewalk upon such street or public place.

Any person who shall violate any provision of this article shall be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, Article II, General Penalty, of the Village Code.
