There is created the Animal Control Office of the Village. This
office shall consist of an Animal Control Officer whose appointment
or removal shall require the approval of the Village Board.

The Animal Control Officer is charged with the duty of impounding
all dogs running at large in violation of the provisions of this code
and any ordinances of the Village. He or she shall also have the responsibility
for the enforcement of all Village ordinances pertaining to animal
control. He or she shall be under the direct supervision of the Village
Board or such person delegated by the Village Board to supervise the
officer.
The Village Board shall promulgate a set of rules, regulations,
and duties for the Animal Control Officer. The compensation for the
officer shall be determined from time to time by the Board.
The Village Board may, by an appropriately adopted ordinance,
contract with the office of the Grundy County Department of Animal
Control to enforce the provisions of this chapter in lieu of the establishment
of a Village Animal Control Officer.
