The dog park in the Township of Greenwich is located at Memorial
Avenue.
The dog park shall be open to the public every day of the year
during designated hours. Unless otherwise posted, hours of operation
for the dog park are from sunrise to sunset. The Township reserves
the right to close the dog park for maintenance and repairs, at any
time and without notice.
A.
Persons making use of the dog park do so at their own risk of injury
to themselves and their dogs. No attendant is on duty. Users of this
facility do so at their own risk.
B.
Persons making use of the dog park shall be responsible for injuries
caused by their dogs to other persons, dogs and/or personal and public
property. Persons possessing dogs that caused any such injuries or
property damage shall indemnify and hold the Township of Greenwich
harmless for same.
C.
Persons making use of the dog park must be 12 years of age or older,
and dogs must be at least six months old, properly licensed with the
Township or state, and have proper vaccinations for rabies. Parvo/distemper
and bordatella vaccinations are recommended.
D.
No entry will be permitted without a current and valid dog license
tag and rabies identification tag attached to the dog collar issued
by the municipality where the dog resides as required by N.J.S.A.
4:19-15.2.
E.
No choke, prong or spike collars are permitted, as these can injure
dogs during play.
F.
Persons shall clean up and dispose of dog waste in trash containers
provided.
G.
No animals other than dogs may be brought into the dog park.
H.
Dogs must never be left unattended. The dog owner must watch his
or her dog(s) at all times and keep a leash available at all times.
I.
Dogs must be leashed at all times when not in the dog park.
J.
Dog owners must be inside the park and within view and voice control
of their dogs at all times.
K.
Dogs shall not be brought into the park if they are less than six
months old, sick or unhealthy, have a history of aggressiveness, have
been adjudicated as dangerous or vicious by a court of law, or are
females in heat.
L.
If aggressive action of the dog is observed, the person shall leave
the park immediately with the aggressive dog.
M.
Children under 12 years of age must be closely supervised at all
times. It is strongly urged that, for their own safety, young children
are not brought to the dog park. If they are, the children must be
within arm's reach of an adult's hand at all times.
N.
No food, treats, rawhide chews, alcoholic beverages, glass containers,
strollers, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades or toys will be allowed
in the dog park area. Littering and smoking is prohibited.
O.
No more than three dogs and/or small children per adult will be allowed.
P.
Dog owners must immediately fill any holes dug by their dogs.
Q.
Professional dog trainers/behaviorists and dog walkers are not permitted
to use the dog park to conduct their business.
R.
Dogs and/or park users creating a disturbance or violating rules
must immediately leave the off-leash area if requested by law enforcement
personnel, park personnel, Gloucester County Animal Control or their
designated agents.
S.
All gates must be closed at all times after entering or leaving the
park.
T.
All dog bites must be immediately reported to the Greenwich Township
Police Department at (856) 423-1900 or the Gloucester County Animal
Control at (856) 881-2828. If a bite occurs, the dog's owner
must exchange his or her name and phone number with the other person
or dog owner.
U.
Aggressive and vicious dogs are prohibited from the dog park, and
dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior must be removed immediately.
V.
Outside the fenced-in dog park area, dogs must be on a leash and
under control by their owner/handlers at all times.
It shall be unlawful to:
A.
Enter or remain on the facility at hours other than the Township-designated
hours of usage.
B.
Enter or remain on the facility with more than three dogs and/or
children per individual.
C.
Fail to immediately remove from the facility any dog showing aggression
toward people or other dogs in the facility.
D.
Fail to immediately remove from the facility any dog that barks continuously,
uncontrollably or excessively.
E.
Enter or remain on the facility with a dog in heat, ill and/or dogs
with internal or external parasites (fleas, ticks, worms, etc.).
F.
Enter or remain on the facility with a dog not currently vaccinated
against rabies.
G.
Enter or leave the facility without each dog being appropriately
leashed.
H.
Enter or remain on the facility with a dog younger than six months
of age.
I.
Fail to immediately leash and restrain a dog in the facility when
advised to do so.
J.
Fail to abide by the rules and regulations posted at the entrance
of the facility.
K.
Fail to immediately depart the facility when ordered to do so by
a municipal official.
L.
Enter or remain on the facility without a valid dog license displayed
on each dog as required by N.J.S.A. 4:19-15.2.
M.
Enter or remain on the facility with a dog that has been adjudicated
as potentially dangerous or vicious by a court of law as defined and
set forth in N.J.S.A. 4:19-18.
Enforcement of the above rules and regulations is under the
immediate supervision of the Township of Greenwich Police Department,
Gloucester County Animal Control, and/or their designated agents.
