The R-1 District is intended to provide a quiet, pleasant and
relatively spacious living area for single-family dwellings, protected
from traffic hazards and intrusion of incompatible land uses.
Permitted uses in the R-1 District are as follows:
B. Two- and three-family dwellings existing on the effective date of
this chapter.
C. Attached or detached garage, 1,000 square feet and 15 feet in height
maximum.

D. Garden and yard equipment shed, 150 square feet maximum and 15 feet
in height maximum.
Conditional uses in the R-1 District are as follows; see also Article
XIV, Conditional Uses, of this chapter.
C. Churches, synagogues and similar places of worship and instruction,
including parsonages.
D. Municipal buildings, except sewerage disposal plants, garbage incinerators,
public warehouses, public garages, public shops and storage yards
and penal or correctional institutions and asylums.
E. Utility offices, provided there is no service garage or storage yard.
F. Public, parochial and private elementary and secondary schools.
G. Public parks, recreation areas, playgrounds and community centers.
H. Home occupations and professional offices.
