The purpose of this Part is to provide for the development of
certain compact segments of existing street and road frontage for
commercial establishments and activities that must be readily accessible
by motor vehicle.

Land and buildings in a General Commercial District shall be
used for the following purposes only:
A. Accessory buildings and uses customarily incidental to the below
when located on the same lot.
C. Any other use which is of the same general character of any of the other uses in this §
27-1002.
D. Auto repair within an enclosed building.
E. Automobile sales and/or auto service establishments, provided that
all repair, lubrication, and other facilities, except fuel pumps,
shall be completely enclosed within a building.
G. Boardinghouse/rooming house.
H. Boat sales and/or service establishments.
I. Business or trade school.
O. Emergency services station.
S. Financial institution, excluding establishments with drive-thru facilities.
X. Laundry or dry-cleaning establishment.
Y. Lumber yards or building supply sales.
AA. Museum, historical/interpretive facility.
CC. Offices or small shop for a contractor or craftsman (plumber, carpenter,
electrician, etc.).
II. Professional and business office.
JJ. Public or private nonprofit park, playground or recreation areas.
KK. Repair of household items.
LL. Restaurants, excluding restaurants with drive-thru facilities.
OO. Swimming pool, nonhousehold.
SS. Restaurant, small.

TT. Homestay,
as an accessory use to a permanent residential use or occupancy.

The following uses may be permitted as a special exception when
authorized by the Zoning Hearing Board:
C. Commercial communications tower.
H. Outdoor commercial recreation.
K. Transit facility, bus terminal.
M. Uses permitted in §
27-1002 which have drive-thru facilities.
O. Warehouse or storage within a completely enclosed building.
P. Uses which, in the opinion of the Zoning Hearing Board, are of the same general character as the above uses in §
27-1003 and which will not be detrimental to the intended purpose of this chapter.
Q. Restaurant, drive-thru.

In addition to the requirements contained in this Part, development
within that portion of the General Commercial District as shown on
Exhibit A shall meet the requirements contained in Part 19, Streetscape
Enhancement Overlay District.
