There shall be a senior citizens commission to advise on the
operation of Calendar House and to study the needs of senior citizens
in the Town. The Commission shall consist of the Chairperson of the
Town Council, the Town Manager, and the Director of Health, as ex
officio members, and nine regular members to be appointed by the Chairperson
of the Town Council. One member shall be the President of the Calendar
House Membership Association or his or her designee. The other members
so appointed shall be persons interested in the consideration and
solution of problems of senior citizens. Membership on the Commission
shall provide for and consist of representatives from clergy, business,
labor, education, government, volunteer groups, and senior citizens
themselves, including Calendar House participants.
The members of the Senior Citizens Commission so appointed shall
serve without compensation but shall be reimbursed for their necessary
expenses.
The members of the Senior Citizens Commission shall serve for terms of three years for until their successors are appointed in accordance with §
147-1.
The Senior Citizens Commission may organize itself in whatever manner it may determine, from time to time, in order to carry out to the fullest extent possible the duties set forth in §
147-2.
