A Board of Health for the City is hereby established to be composed
of the Chief of Police and two (2) individuals with extensive knowledge
and background in the health and sanitation field. These individuals
shall be appointed by the Mayor, annually, by and with the consent
and confirmation of the Board of Aldermen.

The two (2) health care and/or sanitation members of the Board
of Health shall be the Health Officers of the City. Said Health Officers
shall receive reasonable compensation for services rendered by them
in the performance of their duties, said compensation to be audited,
allowed and paid as other claims against the City.

The general duties of the Board of Health shall be to exercise
a general supervision over the sanitary conditions of the City and
have general supervision over the public health in the City and within
the quarantine jurisdiction of the City, and see that all laws and
regulations pertaining to the public health and sanitary conditions
of the City are enforced and with the same powers as the State Board
of Health.

The Board of Health is hereby empowered and authorized to make
all necessary rules and regulations concerning health, sanitation,
quarantine of infectious and contagious diseases as are just and reasonable;
and shall make and enforce adequate orders, findings, rules and regulations
to prevent the spread of infectious, contagious, communicable or dangerous
diseases, and shall make such orders, findings, rules and regulations
as will prevent the entrance of infectious, contagious and communicable
diseases into the City or within the quarantine jurisdiction of said
Board of Health.
