There shall be a Fire Department, the Director of which shall be the Fire Chief, appointed by the Mayor and City Council in accordance with Section 4.3(e) of City Charter. The Fire Chief shall have charge of the prevention and suppression of fires and the provision of ambulance based advanced life support service that meets the requirements and standards of the Statutes and regulations set by the Missouri Division of Health and of all employees, buildings and equipment used for these purposes. Subject to the executive power of the Mayor, the Fire Chief shall have the authority to promulgate and adopt rules and regulations for the management of the Fire Department not inconsistent with the Charter, this Code or any other ordinance of the City.
