As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
TEMPORARY CANOPIES
Temporary canopies, tents, overhangs and the like (hereinafter
referred to collectively as "temporary canopies") that are raised
on residential properties and lack footings, piling or foundations.
Temporary canopies are not permitted in residential properties
in residential zones, except in accord with the below exceptions and
location restrictions.
Temporary canopies are prohibited from being placed in streets
or the front yard of a property. Temporary canopies placed in a side
yard or rear yard shall comply with the setback requirements of the
zone. No temporary canopy can be placed on a property in such a manner
that it would create a sight obstruction for motorists or bicyclists.

Any person, firm, corporation, association or legal party whatsoever who or which shall violate, or authorize or procure a violation, or cause to be violated, any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable as provided under the general penalty provisions found at §
1-15 of this Code. This, however, shall not apply against any municipal employee or officer that authorizes action by permit or otherwise in the ordinary course of their duties.
