There shall be a Board of Health consisting of three members
appointed by the Board of Selectmen for rotating three-year terms
to run from July 1 to June 30. All appointments shall be made in June
of each year.
To the extent practicable, appointments shall be made to ensure
that one member shall have at least three years' experience in
a medical or health-related field and one member shall have at least
three years' experience in engineering, environmental, or solid
waste/wastewater management. One member shall be appointed from the
community at large and shall be a person who has demonstrated interest,
willingness to serve and has some knowledge of the duties and responsibilities
of the Board of Health.
No Town official, appointed or elected, or Town employee shall
be eligible to serve on the Board of Health. No member of any standing
Town board or committee, including the Norton Housing Authority or
similar quasi-local board, shall be eligible for appointment.
The Board of Health shall, otherwise than as provided by the
Town Charter, enjoy the full privileges provided for under state and
local laws.
