This bylaw shall apply to any memorial of a fatal accident or
occurrence that is placed along a roadside and is visible to the naked
eye. The presence of such memorials has been determined to be an unsafe
distraction to motorists.
In cases where a death is caused by a fatal accident or occurrence
in or along such public street, sidewalk, or walkway, a temporary
memorial sign may be erected in accordance with this bylaw by a member
of the deceased's immediate family. "Immediate family" is defined
for purposes of this bylaw as the deceased's spouse, mother,
father, sister, brother, or child.
No such roadside memorial shall be left on or within the boundaries
of any public street, sidewalk, or walkway for more than 30 days.
