A. No
person shall be appointed to serve on any City board or committee
who shall at the time of said appointment be in arrears for any unpaid
City taxes.
B. No
person, having been duly appointed, shall continue to serve on any
City board or committee who during the term of said appointment falls
in arrears of any unpaid tax.
C. Upon
receipt and approval of the City Collector's report of delinquent
taxes, the Board of Aldermen shall determine if any appointed committee
or board member shall be in arrears of unpaid City taxes. Upon said
determination, the committee or board member may be so removed by
a two-thirds (2\3) vote of all the members elected to the Board of
Aldermen independently of the Mayor's approval or recommendation.
D. No
person, having been duly appointed to serve on any committee, board
or commission, shall continue to serve on said committee, board or
commission if said person is found absent without due cause or excused
by the Chairman of said committee, board or commission for more than
three (3) consecutive meetings. In the event the City's attendance
records show unexcused absent for more than three (3) consecutive
regularly scheduled meetings for any appointed committee or board
member, the Board of Aldermen, by motion duly made and receiving an
affirmative vote of the majority, may find said person to have forfeited,
vacated or abandoned his/her appointment, and the Mayor, with the
consent of the majority of the Board of Aldermen, shall fill such
vacancy for the remainder of said term.
E. Except
for boards and commissions authorized specifically by State Statutes,
members may be removed by a recommendation from the Mayor and a concurring
majority vote of the Board of Aldermen.
