An auxiliary Police force is hereby established to be a volunteer organization, to serve without pay, except as hereafter provided, composed of not more than fifteen (15) members, male or female, separate and distinct from the Police Department of this City, but always to be under the general command, control and supervision of the Chief of Police.

A. 
Every member of the auxiliary Police force shall possess the minimum qualifications required of regular Police Officers of this City. Each member shall be issued an auxiliary Police identification card which shall be carried by the member while he/she is on duty with the Police Department of this City. No person shall be deemed a member of the auxiliary Police force until he/she has been registered as such in a roster to be kept by the Police Chief, and until he/she has taken an oath that he/she will observe and obey the Constitution of the United States, the Constitution of this State, the laws of this nation and State and the ordinances of this City, and that he/she will carry out the duties as a member of the auxiliary Police force of this City to the best of his/her ability.

Age. Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age and not more than fifty-five (55) years of age.
2. 
Citizenship. Must be a citizen of the United States.
3. 
Weight. Weight proportioned to height.
4. 
Eyesight. Minimum vision 20/40 either one (1) or both eyes corrected to 20/20.
5. 
Hearing. Normal each ear.
6. 
Education. Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent.
7. 
Minimum hours. Auxiliary officer will be required to work at least sixteen (16) hours a month.
8. 
Physical examination. Must successfully complete a physical exam and pass a drug screening test.
9. 
Background investigation. By the Police Department to determine character and habit.
10. 
Oral interview. Applicant will be interviewed to determine a total evaluation. The Chief of Police shall have the authority to appoint persons to serve as reservists who have been found to be properly qualified. Appointments shall be made without regard to race, creed or sex.
11. 
Training requirements.
a. 
Reserve officers will complete, as a minimum, the training required by Chapter 590, RSMo., for licensure as a Peace Officer in this State.
b. 
All reserve officers must qualify with their weapons on an annual basis.

Members of the auxiliary Police force, while on duty, shall be conservators of the peace and shall have the same powers and authority of regular Police Officers of the Police Department of this City.
