The City Council shall appoint an Engineer for an indefinite
period. The Engineer shall be a person or firm of persons that shall
be a registered engineer in civil engineering licensed in the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania. The City Council may remove the Engineer at any time,
with or without cause, with approval by a majority vote of the total
number of City Council.
The Engineer shall have the superintendence, direction and control
of the civil engineering matters of the City at the direction of the
City Council and exercise other powers and duties as assigned or directed
by the City Council.
The City Council shall set the compensation of the Engineer.
Prohibitions shall only apply if an individual is appointed
as the Engineer. If a firm of persons is appointed then the following
prohibitions shall not apply.
An individual serving as Engineer shall not hold any public
office and shall not hold a political office within Pittston City.
