In addition to the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief and regular
City Firefighters, all of whom are paid regular monthly salaries,
there is hereby created a Volunteer Fire Department within the City
which also includes Grundy County Assorted Scuba Personnel (GASP).
Such Volunteer Fire Department shall consist of as many persons as
the Chief of the Fire Department shall deem necessary and advisable,
and the Fire Chief is hereby authorized to increase or decrease the
number of members of such Volunteer Fire Department at any time.

The Fire Chief is hereby granted the authority to appoint such
persons to the Volunteer Fire Department as, in his/her discretion,
is warranted and to dismiss any person so appointed by him/her as
a member of such Volunteer Fire Department.

It shall be the duty of the members of the Volunteer Fire Department
to answer all fire calls and alarms, to attend all instruction meetings
of the Fire Department as may be called by the Fire Chief thereof
and to perform any duty as may be imposed upon them by the Fire Chief.

It shall be the duty of all members of the Volunteer Fire Department
to assist in the protection of all fire equipment of the City against
loss and breakage, and every such member shall act under the instruction
of the Fire Chief or such other person as may be in charge at any
fire.

The compensation of the members of the Volunteer Fire Department
shall be fixed from time to time by the City Council.
