There is hereby established the Savannah Tree Maintenance Board.
The purpose of such Board is to aid and assist the Board of Aldermen
in administering and managing tree maintenance in the City of Savannah.

The Mayor with the approval of the Board of Aldermen shall appoint
five (5) members to the Savannah Tree Maintenance Board. One (1) member
of the Savannah Board of Aldermen shall serve on the Tree Board.

The members of the Savannah Tree Maintenance Board shall hold
office two (2) for three (3) years, two (2) for two (2) years and
one (1) for one (1) year from the first (1st) of September following
their appointment. The Mayor shall before the first (1st) of September
each year appoint their successors for three (3) year terms. The Mayor
may, with the consent of the Board of Aldermen, remove any Board member
for misconduct or neglect of duty.

The Savannah Tree Maintenance Board shall immediately after
their appointment meet and organize by the election of a Chairman,
Vice Chairman and Secretary. All members of the Board shall have voting
privileges. The Board shall meet four (4) times a year, or as deemed
necessary.

Vacancies on the Savannah Tree Maintenance Board occasioned
by removal, resignation or otherwise shall be reported to the Board
of Aldermen and be filled in like manner as original appointments
and no members shall receive compensation.

The Savannah Tree Maintenance Board shall propose and recommend
such bylaws, rules and regulations for its guidance. All proposed
bylaws, rules, and regulations shall be in writing and shall be submitted
to the Board of Aldermen for approval.

A. The
Savannah Tree Maintenance Board shall:
1. Recommend tree maintenance projects within the City limits of Savannah.
2. Review requests for pruning or removal of trees.
3. Assist in making application to Tree City USA.
4. Develop projects that enhance tree maintenance and promote trees
in Savannah.
5. Develop a systematic approach to maintaining and planting trees.
6. Make annual review of the tree survey and City Code Chapter 240 Tree
Maintenance and update accordingly.

The Savannah Tree Maintenance Board shall make on or before
the first (1st) of September an annual report to the Board of Aldermen.
Such report shall contain an estimate of expenses for the coming fiscal
year for budget purposes.

All meetings of the Savannah Tree Maintenance Board shall be
open to the public and reasonable notice of said meetings shall be
given.
