The Board shall be composed of nine (9) members that are citizens
of the City of Lexington. Each appointed by the Mayor with the approval
of the City Council for a term of three (3) years, the original appointments
to the Board to be made for the following terms:
Three (3) members appointed for a term of one (1) year.
Three (3) members appointed for a term of two (2) years.
Three (3) members appointed for a term of three (3) years.
All appointments thereafter shall be for a term of three (3)
years. Vacancies shall be filled by the appointing authority for the
unexpired term of any member whose office becomes vacant. The Board
shall elect a Chairman and an Acting Chairman from its membership
who shall serve for a term of office of one (1) year.

All citizen members of the Transportation Board shall serve
without compensation.

The City Council may remove any citizen member of the Transportation
Board for cause, stated in writing and after a public hearing.

The Board shall take the necessary steps to market and promote
a vigorous and constant transportation program. The Board shall be
in charge of and handle all correspondence to citizens, keep accurate
records of business proceedings, prioritize a street rehabilitation
list, decide on the type of rehabilitation to be completed on each
street, prepare a cost estimate of each street to be rehabilitated,
maintain a liaison with City Council, seeking funding options, solicit
and interview contractors for projects.
