A. 
The use, construction and/or maintenance of basketball equipment, whether moveable or immovable, on City streets or sidewalks is prohibited. In addition, the construction and/or maintenance of basketball equipment, whether moveable or immovable, on private property, which is positioned in such a manner that in order to use such equipment play must be conducted on City streets or sidewalks, is also prohibited.
B. 
Definitions. For the purpose of this section, "basketball equipment" is any basket, hoop, net, board or any other device elevated from the ground used as a target toward which a ball or any other projectile device is thrown, where such equipment is permanently attached to the ground or is moveable by any means.
Violations of this article shall be punishable by a fine of up to $250.
Any basketball equipment located on any City street or sidewalk may be removed immediately by City workers. Any such removed equipment may be recovered by the owner thereof within 14 days after paying a charge of $50. If the equipment is not recovered by the owner within 14 days, the equipment shall become the property of the City of Amsterdam.
