The title of this article is "The Creation of the Position, Duties and Responsibilities of the Office of Town Administrator." The purpose is to provide the Town of Lawrence with a more efficient, effective and responsible government under the system of a part-time Town Board at a time when Town government is becoming increasingly complex. There is hereby created the office of Town Administrator (hereinafter "Administrator") for the Town of Lawrence (hereinafter "Town").
The Administrator shall be appointed on the basis of merit and qualifications, based on education, training, experience, administrative ability and general fitness for the office, by a majority vote of the Town Board of Supervisors (hereinafter "Town Board"). The Administrator shall hold office for an indefinite term subject to removal any time by a majority vote of the Town Board. This section, however, shall not preclude the Town Board from establishing other employment terms and conditions not within the provisions of this article.[1]

The Administrator, subject to any limitations defined in Wisconsin State Statutes and/or limitations defined in resolutions or ordinances of the Town of Lawrence, shall be the chief administrative officer of the Town, responsible to the Town Chairperson and Town Board for the proper administration of the business affairs of the Town of Lawrence. All Administrator duties are more clearly defined in the Town of Lawrence Administrator job description and are to be performed pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes.
All officials and employees of the Town shall cooperate with and assist the Administrator to enable the Town government to function effectively and efficiently.
