Approved backflow preventers are required on all connections
to car washes, fire sprinkler systems, steam boilers, or on any other
connections designated by the City Water Department or its representatives
as being a potential backflow hazard as defined by State of Missouri
regulations.

Safety and relief valves shall be placed on all boilers or other
steam or force feed apparatus connected with the water system where
the pressure may be raised in excess of ten (10) P.S.I.

If, upon inspection by the City Water Department or its representative,
a cross-connection (as defined by the Missouri Division of Health)
is found, the cross-connection shall be broken immediately or water
service to such consumer shall be discontinued until such condition
is corrected.

Inspections, tests and overhauls of backflow prevention devices
shall be made at the expense of the water consumer and shall be performed
by a State of Missouri certified backflow prevention device tester.

Whenever backflow prevention devices required by this Chapter
are found to be defective, they shall be repaired or replaced at the
expense of the consumer without delay.

Backflow prevention devices shall be a model approved by the
City Water Department and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Backflow prevention devices shall not be by-passed, made inoperative,
removed or otherwise made ineffective without specific authorization
by the City Water Department or its representative.

Periodic inspection of all plumbing systems operating in the
City shall be carried out to insure compliance with this Article.
It is unlawful for anyone to interfere with, or refuse access to,
such plumbing systems for the purpose of inspection upon demand by
the City or the State of Missouri.
