The Select Board shall exercise a general supervision over all
matters affecting the interests or welfare of the Town.
The Select Board may settle any claims or suits against the
Town, which in their opinion cannot be defended successfully, and
they may employ counsel in suits against the Town and in other matters
whenever they deem it necessary.
The Select Board may appear (either personally or by counsel)
before any committee of the Legislature, or board or commission, to
protect the interest of the Town, but are not authorized by this bylaw
to commit the Town to any course of action.
No member of the Select Board shall sign or become liable upon
the bond of any Town officer required to give bonds.
