The following definitions apply for the purposes of this article:
CHARGE
An amount assessed a subscriber protected by a fire alarm
system for a false fire alarm only.
FALSE FIRE ALARM
An alert by a fire alarm system which, upon investigation,
discloses that no fire has occurred. Activation of the fire alarm
system for an identified known reason is not considered a false fire
alarm.
FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
Any device designed for the detection of smoke or fire and
when activated gives a signal, either visual, audible, or both; and/or
transmits or causes to be transmitted a signal.
SUBSCRIBER
An owner or lessor of a premises equipped with a fire alarm
system.
The owner, owner's agent and/or servicing technician shall notify
the fire alarm monitoring company prior to servicing the fire alarm
system.
Whenever a false fire alarm is received for a premises served
by a fire alarm system, the subscriber shall be charged an amount
in accordance with the most recent Municipal fee schedule.
The failure of a subscriber to pay a false fire alarm charge
shall result in the filing of a citation before the local District
Magistrate of a summary offense.
The Fire Code Official shall prescribe and issue all forms necessary
for the administration of this article, including but not limited
to the inspection and collection of fines for violations. The Fire
Code Official may designate other Municipal personnel to enforce this
article, either singly or in conjunction with each other.
