The purpose of this regulation is to stop and prevent the improper
disposal of hazardous wastes into our drainage systems. These include
many common household hazardous wastes, such as waste automotive oils,
solvents, antifreeze, pool chemicals, etc. The illegal disposal of
hazardous wastes into Town drainage systems, which includes combined
storm and sewage drainage systems, poses various threats to public
health, waters, and the environment. There now exist safe available
methods for proper disposal of these wastes. Therefore, the following
regulations are adopted as reasonable and are intended to provide
and promote protection of public health and the environment.
No person or entity shall place, allow to flow, or cause to
discharge into the drainage systems in the Town of South Hadley any
defined hazardous wastes.
These regulations shall become effective on September 20, 1989.
