[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 1]
The word "building," as used in this article, shall mean any
structure used or intended to be used as a dwelling or place of business
or industry, including public buildings and places of worship, but
shall not include any accessory building located upon a lot where
there is also a main building.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 2]
The Township Secretary is hereby required to prepare a numbering
plan for the Township, and to assign numbers to all lots and buildings
located therein, such numbers to be assigned in accordance with the
system herein prescribed.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 3]
Upon all streets extending east and west, the numbering system
shall commence at the eastern boundary of the Township, with number
one or an appropriate larger number for streets whose beginning point
extends beyond the Township boundary, and shall increase westwardly
therefrom. The allotment of numbers shall be made as nearly as practicable
using or allotting separate numbers for each 100 feet for each side
of street frontage. On all such streets the odd numbers shall be on
the north side, and the even numbers on the south side thereof.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 4]
Upon all streets extending north and south, the numbering system
shall commence at the southern boundary of the Township commencing
with number one or an appropriate larger number for streets whose
beginning point extends beyond the township boundary, and shall increase
northwardly therefrom. The allotment of numbers shall be made as nearly
as practicable using or allotting separate numbers for each 100 feet
for each side of street frontage. On all such streets the odd numbers
shall be on the east side, and the even numbers on the west side thereof.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 5]
Upon all streets not running in a generally north-south or east-west
direction or in any way not conforming to the general pattern of street
arrangement in the Township, numbers shall be allotted by the Secretary
as nearly as practicable to accord using or allotting separate numbers
for each 100 feet for each side of street frontage, and with numbers
used on neighboring streets running in approximately the same direction.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 6]
Numbers shall be assigned to all existing buildings in the Township
by the Township Secretary, as soon as possible after the adoption
of this article; and the Township Secretary shall thereupon send to
the owner of every lot upon which a building is located a written
notice of the number assigned to such building, directing that such
number be affixed to such building or elsewhere upon the property
in the manner prescribed by this article within 90 days of such notice.
Every property owner who shall disregard or fail to comply with such
notice within the time specified therein shall be guilty of a violation
of this article.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 7]
Numbers assigned to buildings in the Township according to the
provisions hereof shall be affixed to, painted upon, or carved upon
such building or upon a permanent standard, base or support between
such building and the street upon which it fronts. Each number shall
be at least three inches in height, shall be of such color and material
and shall be so located as to be visible both day and night from the
street, and shall be constantly maintained in complete and legible
form. The property owner shall from time to time re-affix or renew
all numbers that shall not continue to conform to the requirements
of this article; provided, however, that in the case of a building
occupied by other than the owner thereof, the occupant, rather than
the owner, shall be responsible for maintaining the number upon such
building as hereby required.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 8]
Whenever a building permit shall be sought for the erection
of any building in the Township, the applicant shall, at the time
of making such application, apply to the Township Secretary for an
assignment of an official number or numbers to the building or buildings
covered by such application. The number or numbers so assigned by
the Secretary shall be in conformity with the requirements of this
article for numbering existing buildings, shall be affixed by the
owner or builder thereof within 30 days after such assignment, and
shall thereafter be maintained as herein required.
[Ord. 13-1982, 12/6/1982, § 9; as amended by Ord.
2-2005, 7/6/2005]
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any provision
of this article, upon conviction thereof in an action brought before
a District Justice in the manner provided for the enforcement of summary
offenses under the Pennsylvania Rules of Criminal Procedure, shall
be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $1,000 plus costs and,
in default of payment of said fine and cost, to a term of imprisonment
not to exceed 90 days. Each day that a violation of this article continues
or each section of this article which shall be found to have been
violated shall constitute a separate offense.
