This chapter is titled the "Town of New Glarus
Traffic Ordinance." The purpose of this chapter is as follows: to
set zone and posted speed limits within the Township.
The Town Board of the Town of New Glarus has the specific
statutory authority, powers and duties, pursuant to the specific statutory
sections noted in this chapter and/or by its adoption of the Village
powers under § 60.10, Wis. Stats., to regulate, control,
prevent and enforce against in the Town of New Glarus certain uses,
activities, businesses and operations by persons that may affect the
traffic in the Town of New Glarus.
The Town Board of the Town of New Glarus has, by adoption
of this chapter, confirmed the specific statutory authority, powers
and duties noted in the specific sections of this chapter and has
established, by these sections and this chapter, the regulations,
controls and enforcement against certain uses, activities, businesses
and operations by persons that may affect traffic in the Town of New
Glarus.
The Town of New Glarus establishes, by this chapter,
in compliance with Chs. 346 and 349, Wis. Stats., the following maximum
speed limits on the following public highways, roads, streets and
alleys in the Town of New Glarus:
The Town Board of the Town of New Glarus will not
reduce the maximum speed limit in any area below 45 miles per hour
without the approval of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation
district officer.
Pursuant to § 349.11, Wis. Stats., effective January 31,
2014, speed limits on certain Town of New Glarus Town highways are
reduced or modified to 35 miles per hour on the following Town of
New Glarus Highways:
Pursuant
to § 348.15(9)(f), Wis. Stats., all implements of husbandry
(including Category B implements of husbandry defined in § 340.01(24)(a)1.b.,
Wis. Stats., may not exceed the weight limits imposed by § 348.15(3)(g),
Wis. Stats.
To exceed
the length and/or weight limitations for IoH or Ag CMVs on highways
under this jurisdiction, a no-fee permit may be applied for from the
municipal jurisdiction.
Pursuant
to § 348.27(19)(b) 4m.a., Wis. Stats., in the event an application
for a no-fee permit is made for a Category B implement of husbandry
as defined in § 340.01(24)(a)1.b., Wis. Stats., the municipal
jurisdiction or county is required to provide an approved alternate
route, which may include highways that are not under this jurisdiction
if prior approval has been given by the jurisdiction over the alternate
routes not under this entity's jurisdiction for operation of Category
B implements of husbandry as defined in § 340.01(24)(a)1.b.,
Wis. Stats.
