The Board of Commissioners of the Township shall appoint and fix the number, rank, tenure, compensation and allowances of the members of the Township Police Department and shall prescribe all necessary rules and regulations for the organization and operation of the police force.

The ranks of the Police Department are hereby established, in terms of precedence from lowest to highest, as follows:
A. 
Patrol officer.
B. 
Detective/Corporal (co-extant).
C. 
Sergeant.
D. 
Lieutenant.

Members of the Police Department shall enforce all ordinances of the Township and the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within the Township and shall such powers and rights as are defined and granted by statute.
