(a) 
The County Executive shall appoint a Medical Examiner, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature. At the time of his/her appointment, and throughout his/her term of office, the Medical Examiner shall be and remain duly licensed and entitled to practice medicine in the State of New York. He/She shall be appointed on the basis of his/her medical experience and other qualifications for the responsibilities of his/her office. He/She shall be directly responsible to, and serve at the pleasure of, the County Executive. The Medical Examiner shall have all the powers and perform all the duties now or hereafter conferred or imposed upon him/her by law, and perform such other and related duties required by the County Executive or the County Legislature.
(b) 
The Medical Examiner shall have the power to appoint such qualified Deputy Medical Examiners as shall be authorized by the County Legislature. Such deputies shall be directly responsible to, and serve at the pleasure of, the Medical Examiner.

There shall be an Office of Probation and Community Corrections under the direction of a Director of Probation and Community Corrections. Unless otherwise required by law, the Director shall be appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature, and shall be directly responsible to, and serve at the pleasure of, the County Executive. He/She shall have all the powers and perform all the duties now or hereafter conferred or imposed upon him/her by law, and perform such other and related duties required by the County Executive or County Legislature.

There shall be an Office for the Aging, headed by a Director, whose position shall be salaried and who shall be appointed by the County Executive subject to confirmation by the County Legislature. The Director shall be directly responsible to, and serve at the pleasure of, the County Executive. He/She shall have all the powers and perform all the duties now or hereafter conferred or imposed upon him/her by law, and perform such other and related duties required by the County Executive or County Legislature. The Director shall have the power to appoint such assistants and employees of his/her office as the County Legislature may authorize.

There shall be an office of Veterans Affairs under the direction of a Director of Veterans Affairs, who shall be appointed by the County Executive, subject to confirmation by the County Legislature. She or he shall be a veteran of the armed forces of the United States and shall be directly responsible to and serve at the pleasure of, the County Executive. She or he shall have all the powers and perform all the duties now or hereafter conferred or imposed upon her or him by law and perform such other and related duties required by the County Executive or County Legislature.

He/She shall have all the powers and perform all the duties now or hereafter conferred or imposed upon him/her by law, and perform such other and related duties required by the County Executive or County Legislature.
