The creation of a Police Department in and for the Borough of Watsontown and the appointment of policemen by the Borough Council, subject to any applicable civil service provisions in the law, is hereby approved.

The Police Department shall be composed of a Chief of Police and any other officers and patrolmen as have been or may be appointed by the Borough Council from time to time, subject to applicable civil service provisions in the law.

The Mayor may appoint auxiliary policemen from time to time as required to protect the safety and welfare of the public at large.

The Police Department as established under § 1-201 above, is hereby authorized by the Watsontown Borough Council to enforce the laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the ordinances of the Borough of Watsontown.

The Borough of Watsontown hereby adopts the County of Northumberland's Municipal Police Cooperative Agreement dated October 6, 1998 (the "agreement").

The police officers, including the Chief of Police, of the Borough of Watsontown are authorized to participate in the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force in accordance with the agreement. The police officers' participation in the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force shall be at the authorization and direction of the Chief of Police of the Watsontown Police Department. If at any time there is not a Chief of Police for the Watsontown Police Department, the police officers' participation in the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force shall be at the authorization and direction of the Mayor of the Borough of Watsontown.

The police officers shall be authorized to participate in the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force as long as the Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force continues to exist and operate under the agreement.

This Subpart 2B establishes a retirement plan for the police employees of Watsontown Borough through the adoption of the Police Document effective January 1, 2013.
