The purpose of this chapter is to list the appointed officers of the Village of Cayuga Heights that may reside outside of the Village. The intent of this chapter is to define the geographical limits for residency of certain appointed officers of the Village of Cayuga Heights to the entire county in which the Village is wholly situated, or as specified below, outside of Tompkins County.
This chapter is enacted pursuant to the grant of powers to local governments provided for in § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law to adopt and amend local laws not inconsistent with the provisions of the New York State Constitution or not inconsistent with any general law relating to its property, affairs, government or other subjects provided for in said § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law and § 3-300 of Village Law.

As of the effective date of this chapter, the appointed officers that may reside outside of the Village of Cayuga Heights but in Tompkins County, the County in which the Village of Cayuga Heights is wholly situated, shall include Clerk, Treasurer, Zoning Officer, and Deputy Clerk. Additionally, the Zoning Officer and Code Enforcement Officer may reside outside of Tompkins County.
