Biennially, at the annual meeting of the Fire Company conducted by law in April of each year, the members of the Company shall elect by ballot from their own number a Chief Engineer (Fire Chief) for a term of office of two years and who by law shall be a resident of the State of New York. The election of the person to be Fire Chief is subject to approval of the Village Board of Trustees, and the Fire Chief shall assume office upon such approval being granted.
The Fire Superintendent of the Village may also be appointed to serve for a similar two-year term, at the discretion of the Village Board of Trustees.
