As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
FIRE MARSHAL
Appointed Fire Marshal of the Borough of Folcroft.
RESPONSIBLE PARTY
Either the owner or tenant of a private residential property
who is responsible for upkeep of said property. Concerning rental
units, notification shall be mailed to the owner of the unit and posted
in plain sight on the unit for the tenant.
All residential private property must be kept in compliance
with the property maintenance code. If, upon receiving notice from the Health Officer, Building Code Official, Fire Marshal or other enforcing or applicable party issuing a warning notice that a property is in need of corrective action for any of the violations listed in §
457-5, the responsible party does not correct the violation within the allotted time, the Borough has the right to institute corrective action and bill the property owner for said corrective action. If the bill is not paid, the Borough shall place a lien on the property to include all costs associated with placing the lien for work completed.
The following is a listing of violations as prescribed in §
457-4 that if the responsible party does not correct within the allotted time, the Borough may partake in the prescribed corrective action:
A. High vegetation including, but not limited to, grass, weeds and hedges.
C. Repair of private alleyways if the Borough Engineer declares the
need for repair.
D. If more than 15% of the property has boarded windows.
E. Securing windows, doors, cellars, basements and other means of entrance
into a property.
