There is hereby created a Police Department of the Borough of Folcroft to consist of a Chief of Police, patrolmen of such number as Borough Council shall from time to time determine, and crossing guards to be of such number as Borough Council shall from time to time determine.

The Chief of Police shall be in charge of and shall manage and direct the police force subject to the orders and control of the Mayor. The Chief of Police shall devote his full time to his duties.
The salary of the Chief of Police shall be as, from time to time, fixed by Borough ordinance.

The Police Department shall consist of at least three full-time police officers, namely, Chief of Police, and at least two patrolman, designated by Council. Other patrolmen shall be part-time officers, appointed by, and holding office at the pleasure of Borough Council. Crossing guard duties shall be confined to protecting and safeguarding the schoolchildren going to and from school.

Appointments to the office of Chief of Police shall be made in accordance with the Borough Code, as from time to time amended. Patrolmen shall be appointed to the police force in accordance with this Part and rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission.
