The term "subdivision" means the division of a parcel of land
into five or more lots or parcels for the purpose of transfer of ownership
or building development; provided, that a division of land for agricultural
purposes into parcels of 10 acres or more shall not be deemed a subdivision.
A "plat" means the final map, drawing, or chart on which the
subdivider's plan of subdivision is presented to the Planning
Commission for approval. (Chapter VI contains the detailed plat data.)
The term "street" means a way for vehicular traffic, whether
designated as a street, highway, thorofare, park-way, road, avenue,
boulevard, land, place, or however otherwise designated.
§ 2.31 "Arterial streets"
and "highways" are those which are used primarily for fast and heavy
traffic (designated as interregional and regional thorofares on the
Major Thorofare Plan).
§ 2.32 "Collector streets" are those which
carry traffic from minor streets to the major system of arterial streets
and highways, including the principal entrance streets of a residential
development and streets for circulation within such a development
(designated as secondary thorofares on the Major Thorofare Plan).
§ 2.33 "Minor streets" are those used primarily
for access to the abutting properties.
§ 2.34 "Marginal access streets" are minor
streets which are parallel to and adjacent to arterial streets and
highways; and which provide access to abutting properties and protection
from through traffic.
§ 2.35 "Alleys" are minor ways which are
used primarily for vehicular service access to the back or the side
of properties otherwise abutting on a street.
