The following general rules of sentence construction shall apply
to the regulations of this chapter:
A. The singular number includes the plural, and the plural the singular,
unless the context clearly indicates the contrary.
B. Words used in the present tense include the past and future tenses,
and the future the present.
C. The word "shall" is always mandatory. The word "may" is permissive.
D. Words and terms not defined herein shall be interpreted in accord
with their normal dictionary meanings and customary usage.
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
ALTERNATE MEMBER
A person appointed by the Town Board to participate in place
of a Planning Board member in the event of a conflict of interest
or other factor such as illness, vacation or other absence.
PLANNING BOARD
The designated body appointed by the Town Board for the purpose
of maintaining and implementing Town plans and reviewing and developing
locals laws at the request of the Town Board.
