As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
BURGLAR/FIRE ALARM EQUIPMENT
Any and all equipment installed in any property of any nature whatsoever situated in the Township of Edgewater Park.
No person, firm, corporation, partnership or other business entity shall hereafter be permitted to install a burglar/fire alarm without first having complied with the terms and conditions of this chapter.
Each applicant for the installation of an alarm system shall complete an application which shall contain the following information:
A. 
Name, address and telephone number of the applicant;
B. 
Name, address and telephone number of the owner of the premises, if other than the applicant;
C. 
Name, address and telephone number of personnel acquainted with the alarm system who can be contacted in the event of an emergency;
D. 
Type of service;
E. 
Name, address and telephone number of the installer;
F. 
Name, address and telephone number of person to be contacted in the event of an emergency;
G. 
Such other information as may be required by the Chief of Police in his discretion to enable the Police Department to effectively monitor the alarm system.

There shall be a application fee as established by Chapter 240, Fees, for the cost of maintaining the record by the Edgewater Park Township Police Department.

In order to minimize false alarms and the resultant unproductive time of the Police Department personnel, there shall be a fee beginning with the fifth and each subsequent false alarm thereafter in any calendar year as established by Chapter 240, Fees.
All public and quasi-public buildings, including fire stations and all buildings rented by public agencies, are exempt from the provisions of this chapter.
The applicant shall be solely responsible for the proper installation and maintenance of its alarm equipment, including all lines and wiring thereto, and the Township shall not be responsible for any failure or breakdown of the alarm system or malfunction thereof.
