The intent of this chapter is to promote and protect the public
health, safety, and general welfare in the Village of Cayuga Heights
pursuant to the laws of the State of New York and the Village's Comprehensive
Plan by classifying and regulating the uses of land and structures
within the Village so as to preserve the natural, architectural, cultural,
historic, and scenic resources that make the Village a distinctive
residential community while also accommodating change. Among other
purposes, the purposes of this chapter are to:
A. Secure safety from fire and other dangers;
B. Facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewage
disposal, schools, parks, and other public amenities;
C. Provide standards for orderly development;
D. Maintain and protect the value of property;
E. Ensure compatibility between land uses and protect existing land
uses from intrusions by inharmonious or harmful land uses;
F. Prevent the overcrowding of land and undue concentration of population;
G. Reduce traffic congestion and create a more pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly
environment.
