No person shall, except as permitted under the laws of the commonwealth,
fire or discharge any bows or slingshots (including air, spring or
hydraulically operated) within the Township of Upper Moreland.
Any adult person having responsibility for the care, maintenance
and/or supervision of any minor under the age of 18 years shall violate
this article if such person permits the minor to possess any of the
devices set forth hereinabove within 150 yards of an occupied structure
or any public highway.
The provisions of §
148-1 shall not apply to any police officer acting in the normal course of his duties, including the dispatching of injured animals, and including authorized target practice at an approved range.
The provisions of §
148-1 shall not apply to those engaging in target practice, skeet or trap shooting, using .22-caliber rim-fire ammunition, shotgun shells with small and multiple shot loads, or bows and arrows, providing such target practice, skeet or trap shooting is carried on at an approved site under the supervision of a responsible adult.
The Chief of Police of the Township of Upper Moreland is hereby
authorized upon request to approve target practice ranges and the
supervision thereof. Such approval shall be valid for one year and
must be in writing, signed by the Chief of Police.

A. Any person who fails to comply with the provisions of this article shall be issued a Township notice of violation by the Upper Moreland Police Department, imposing a fine based on the quantity of notices of violation the person has been issued for the particular violation, in accordance with the amounts set forth in Chapter
A370. Should the offender fail to pay the fine or challenge the notice of violation within five days of the date of issuance, the Police Department will rescind it and file a non-traffic citation with the Township Magisterial District Judge.

B. Upon summary conviction before a Magisterial District Judge, the
offender shall be sentenced to pay a fine of no less than $100 nor
more than $1,000 plus costs of prosecution and the Township's
actual attorneys' fees. Failure to pay any fines, costs and fees
imposed may result in imprisonment not to exceed 30 days.

It shall be unlawful for any person within the Township of Upper
Moreland to carry or possess upon any public area any BB gun, air
gun, spring gun or pneumatic instrument of any kind which propels
any kind of a pellet or paint ball.
It shall be unlawful for any person within the Township to fire
or discharge or cause to be fired or discharged, any BB gun, air gun,
spring gun or pneumatic instrument of any kind, propelling any kind
of a pellet or paint ball onto or adjacent to public property.

guns found in his or her possession and be sentenced to pay a fine
of no less than $100 nor more than $1,000 plus costs of prosecution
and the Township's actual attorneys' fees.
