There is hereby created a Veterans Commission to assist and
advise the Town and its residents on veterans' issues and to coordinate
and assist in the planning organization and conduct of the Memorial
Day Parade and the Veterans Day Ceremony. In addition, the Commission
shall advise the Town Council on matters of concern to veterans and
their families and on measures the Council can undertake to better
serve the needs of veterans and their families.

The Veterans Commission shall be composed of seven members appointed
by the Council for a term of two years commencing on the first day
of July. Two alternate members shall be appointed initially to serve
to June 30, 2020, and thereafter they shall be appointed for two-year
terms ending on June 30. Any vacancy in the membership of the Commission
shall be filled by the Council for the unexpired term of such member.
All members shall serve without compensation. The Council may remove
any Commission member for just cause as provided in Chapter III of
the Charter.
The Commission shall fix the time and place of its regular meetings
and provide a method for calling special meetings. The Commission
shall determine its own rules of procedure. The Commission may adopt
rules and procedures to carry out the purposes of this chapter. The
Commission shall keep records of its meetings and activities and make
an annual report to the Town Council. It may make special reports
as the Town Council may request from time to time.
