Under the direction of the Mayor and City Council,
the Police Chief shall establish a voluntary Police Reserve within
the City to be known as the "Isanti Police Reserve Unit" pursuant
to the provisions of this chapter.
The qualifications of the members of the Reserve
shall be determined by the Chief of Police with final appointment
to be made by the Mayor and City Council.
The size of the Reserve shall be determined
by the Chief of Police as approved by the Mayor and City Council.
The Chief of Police shall be responsible for the administration.

The duties and obligations of the members of the Police Reserve
shall be as follows, to the full extent authorized pursuant to applicable
Minnesota law under the direction of the Chief of Police:
A. To aid in the enforcement of all laws.
B. To assist as directed in enforcement of local laws promulgated in the City Code regarding Chapter
216, Nuisances; Chapter
227, Parking and Storage; Chapter
230, Parks and Recreation Areas; Chapter
278, Special Events; and Chapter
295, Tobacco and Related Delivery Products, including but not limited to the issuance of citations for the violation of said ordinances.
C. Suppression of disturbances.
D. The preservation of peace.
E. Protection of life and property.
Individual members may be used as deemed necessary
by the Chief of Police, but the entire Reserve shall not be called
out to duty except upon direct order of the Mayor or his designate.
No member of the Reserve or the Reserve itself shall exercise any
authority outside the limits of the City.

Members of the Reserve shall receive no compensation
for their services, except that they shall be covered by workers'
compensation while on duty.
