A.
Village Law § 300 is amended and superseded in its application
to the Village of Horseheads to provide that the persons appointed
to the following offices for the Village of Horseheads, at the time
of such person's appointment and throughout such person's
term of office, need not be an elector of the Village of Horseheads
so long as such person is a resident of New York State and a resident
of Chemung County or any county contiguous to Chemung County: Village
Manager, Clerk-Treasurer, Deputy Clerk, Deputy Treasurer, Code Enforcement
Officer, Building Inspector, Court Clerk, Chief of Police, Master
Mechanic and Fire Inspector, Director of Parks and Recreation, Director
of Public Works, and Water System Operator.
B.
A new sentence is hereby inserted at the end of Village Law § 300
to read and provide as follows: "The persons appointed to the following
offices for the Village of Horseheads, at the time of such person's
appointment and throughout such person's term of office, need
not be an elector of the Village of Horseheads so long as such person
is a resident of New York State and a resident of Chemung County or
any county contiguous to Chemung County: Village Manager, Clerk-Treasurer,
Deputy Clerk, Deputy Treasurer, Code Enforcement Officer, Building
Inspector, Court Clerk, Chief of Police, Master Mechanic and Fire
Inspector, Director of Parks and Recreation, Director of Public Works,
and Water System Operator."
