a. 
The Board of Selectmen is hereby empowered to post as "No Parking" areas those portions of Town streets or public property belonging to the Town as they, in their discretion, determine that the public interest requires. Such designation may include a ban on parking during specified times, events, or occurrences.
b. 
The Selectmen are further authorized to establish a schedule of penalties for violations of the no parking rules, provided that such penalties shall not be less than $5.00 nor greater than $50.00 for any enumerated offense, if the penalty of said violation is paid within seven days thereof; the Board of Selectmen may establish such additional penalties, including a doubling of the original penalty, for parking fines not paid within seven days of the violation.
c. 
The Board of Selectmen may prepare and cause to be issued summonses in appropriate form giving notice to the owner of any vehicle of violations of the postings authorized hereunder.

Pursuant to Section 7-148 of the Connecticut General Statutes (Revision of 1958), no person shall park a vehicle or remain stationary in an area, that is clearly marked "NO PARKING" or "FIRE ZONE" by appropriate devices or markers or by lines upon the surface of ground, indicating parking is prohibited, or for a period of time that is longer than allowed by legally installed signs.
Nothing in this section shall be construed to apply to emergency vehicles or maintenance vehicles in the normal course of business.

a. 
The First Selectman or his or her designee may impose a parking ban during and/or in anticipation of winter weather events on any public streets or highways within the Town of Brooklyn, as deemed necessary in his or her sole discretion. Any such parking bans will be announced on the Town's website and on local broadcast radio such as WINY 1350am. No automobile, truck, vehicle or any personal property of any kind or description shall be parked, placed, deposited, left or allowed to remain within the limits of any public street or highway in the Town of Brooklyn during the duration of any such parking ban.
b. 
Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of paragraph a hereof shall be fined not more than $50.00 for each offense.
c. 
The Town of Brooklyn, acting through its First Selectman or designee, may remove, or cause to be removed from any street or highway within the Town of Brooklyn, any automobile, truck, vehicle, or any personal property packed, placed, deposited, left or allowed to remain upon any street or highway within the Town of Brooklyn in violation of the provisions of this section, to a garage or other place of storage, where the same shall be kept until repossessed by the owner or other person entitled to the possession thereof, or otherwise disposed of. There shall be no liability attached to the First Selectman or his designee. The owner or other person entitled to the possession of any such automobile, truck, vehicle or other personal property may recover possession thereof upon payment of all expense and cost of removal and storage thereof. All charges necessarily incurred by the First Selectman or his designee shall be a lien upon such motor vehicle. The owner or keeper of any garage or other place where such motor vehicle is stored, shall have a lien upon the same for his storage charges.
