It shall be unlawful to place dead animals or parts thereof
in a container for normal solid waste collection without the consent
of the Director. This section shall not apply to animal parts from
food preparation for human consumption.
The resident who is assigned containers for solid waste must
maintain them, and the adjacent area, in a nuisance- and odor-free
condition.
No person having custody or control of residential, industrial
or business premises shall permit or cause any solid waste, including
recyclables, within his control to become a hazard to public travel,
health or safety, or to become a nuisance of any sort.

A. The Director will establish the necessary procedure to collect and dispose of bulky waste from residential units within the Town at frequent intervals. The fee for collection of curbside residential bulky waste within the Town shall be set by the Town Council and published by the Department of Public Works, within the regulations of Chapter
204, payable at the time of scheduling.
B. All bulky waste shall be stored within the residence of the owner.
The Department of Public Works must be notified by each resident of
the type and location of items of bulky waste to be collected and
will make the waste available for pickup at the curb on the date scheduled
by the Department. The Department will schedule the pickup within
15 days of notification.
(1) Only residences eligible for collection of municipal solid waste by the Town of Coventry as determined in §
204-30 are eligible for bulky waste collection. It shall be a violation of this chapter for any individual to place bulky waste for collection by municipal collection if that waste is not generated at or directly associated with the residence.
(2) Bulky waste collection will only be made up to two cubic yards.
(a)
Bulky waste collection will not be made for house cleanouts.
(b)
Residents requiring disposal of more than two cubic yards of
waste will be responsible for appropriate disposal of such waste of
their own accord. The Town will not be responsible for the disposal
of such waste.
(3) Fees for pickup of bulky waste may be determined by the office of
the Director and are subject to change based on disposal rates indicated
on the fee schedule published by the Rhode Island Resource Recovery
Corporation.
(a)
White goods containing Freon will be subject to a disposal fee
to be set by the Town Council and published by the Department of Public
Works.
(b)
Mattresses and box springs that are clean, dry, and in recyclable
condition, as determined by the guidelines set forth by the Mattress
Recycling Council, are free to drop off at the transfer station; however,
there will be a special collection fee to be set by the Town Council
and published by the Department of Public Works.
(c)
Mattresses and box springs that are neither clean, nor dry,
nor in a recyclable condition, as determined by the guidelines set
forth by the Mattress Recycling Council and the Town of Coventry,
will be subject to a special collection fee to be set by the Town
Council and published by the Department of Public Works.
C. Mattress/box spring dropoff.
(1) All residents of the Town of Coventry are entitled to drop off mattresses
and box springs that are clean, dry, and in recyclable condition,
as determined by the guidelines set forth by the Mattress Recycling
Council, at the transfer station for free (subject to change based
on guidelines by the Mattress Recycling Council).
(2) Mattresses and box springs that are neither clean, nor dry, nor in
a recyclable condition, as determined by the guidelines set forth
by the Mattress Recycling Council, will be subject to a disposal fee
to be set by the Town Council and published by the Department of Public
Works.
D. E-waste dropoff. All residents of the State of Rhode Island are entitled
to drop off e-waste, as defined in this chapter, to the transfer station
for free as determined by the guidelines set forth by Rhode Island
Resource Recovery Corporation (subject to change).
All owners of nonresidential premises, manufactured/mobile home
parks, condominium associations, or other private properties shall
provide a sufficient number of approved containers for the storage
of solid waste which such properties generate, and will place such
solid waste therein, other than those wastes which do not require
containerized storage, which shall be stored as authorized by rules
and regulations adopted under this chapter. All owners of nonresidential
premises will be responsible for the cost of disposal of their solid
waste.
