Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:145-12, the Township Committee may by
resolution appoint and employ a competent Attorney-at-law of the State
of New Jersey as Township Solicitor, to hold office until January
1 next following his appointment, and until his successor is appointed
and has qualified.
The Township Solicitor shall be the legal advisor to the Township
Committee and to all boards, departments and agencies of the Township
except as provided otherwise by law, ordinance or resolution.

A New Jersey Licensed Attorney shall be appointed to the position
of Municipal Public Defender by the Township Committee annually for
a term of one (1) year. The compensation for the Public Defender shall
be the funds collected by the Municipal Court for Public Defender
fees, less any expenses ordered paid by the Court.

An application fee of not more than two hundred ($200.00) dollars,
as determined by the Municipal Judge, shall be charged to each defendant
for services to be provided by the Public Defender in Municipal Court,
and costs incurred for investigations and experts, as may be deemed
necessary by the Municipal Court Judge.

In situations of total indigency, the Municipal Court Judge
shall have the discretion to waive all or part of the application
fee.

The Municipal Court Judge shall have the right to assign a private
New Jersey Licensed Attorney to represent an indigent defendant in
the Municipal Court if the appointed Public Defender is unable to
provide legal representation because of a conflict of interest.

Funds collected pursuant to this Section
2-7 shall be deposited in a dedicated fund administered by the Township Treasurer. The funds shall be used exclusively to meet the costs incurred in providing the services of the Municipal Public Defender, investigations and experts when required.

1 next following his appointment and until his successor is appointed
and has qualified. The Municipal Court Prosecutor shall perform such
legal services in connection with the prosecution of complaints before
the Municipal Court and the trial of appeals therefrom as may be required.

There shall be appointed an Emergency Management Coordinator.
The Emergency Management Coordinator shall serve for a term of three
(3) years and be a resident of the Township. As a condition of his
appointment and his right to continue for the full term of his appointment,
each Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator shall have successfully
completed at the time of his appointment or within one (1) year immediately
following his appointment or the effective date of this act, whichever
is later, the current approved Home Study Course and the basic Emergency
Management workshop.

appointment and duties shall be as provided by the Township Committee.
