Members of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Amelia shall be elected biennially for staggered four-year terms upon the conversion of terms of office of members of the Board of Supervisors to staggered terms in accordance with procedures set forth in this article.
The terms of office for members of the Board of Supervisors elected at the November 1999 general election shall be as follows:
A. 
Three members elected at the November 1999 general election shall be elected for terms of four years.
B. 
Two members elected at the November 1999 general election shall be elected for terms of two years.
Upon adoption of this article, the Board of Supervisors directs the Electoral Board of the County of Amelia to assign, in accordance with § 24.2-219 of the Code of Virginia 1950, as amended, and all other applicable law, individual terms of members by election district in a drawing at a meeting held prior to the last day for a person to qualify as a candidate, provided that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Amelia adopts this article at least 30 days prior to the last day for qualification.
In all elections after the November 1999 general election, members of the Board of Supervisors shall be elected for terms of four years.
This article shall supersede and repeal any and all ordinances of the County of Amelia that are inconsistent herewith.
This article shall become effective immediately upon its passage, and upon its passage, a certified copy of this article shall be sent to the Electoral Board for the County of Amelia.
