Pursuant to Article
IV, Section 6 of the Constitution and Bylaws of the Tribe, the Legislature is authorized to establish community committees in order to determine the needs and concerns of the community to which it is assigned. Each community committee established hereunder shall be composed of three members of the Legislature. On-reservation community committees (Subsections A through E below) shall hold not fewer than four meetings per year. Off-reservation community committees (Subsections F and G below) shall hold two meetings per year. All community committee meetings shall be posted in accordance with Chapter
177, Posting Procedures, of this Code. The official minutes of all community committees shall be forwarded to the Legislature for action and/or consideration by the Legislature. The following community committees are hereby established:
A. Keshena Community Committee;
B. Neopit Community Committee;
C. South Branch Community Committee;
D. Zoar Community Committee;
E. Nanaweyah Ominihekan (Middle Village) Committee;
F. Chicago Community Committee; and
G. Milwaukee Community Committee.
The Tribal Legislature may establish annually or as they deem
necessary joint committees that are made up of members from the Legislature
and another entity's governing body, where there are matters of joint
interest. These joint committees will provide for a means of communication
between the Tribe and other entities. They are established to provide
research, investigating and advisory assistance to the Legislature
when dealing with matters of joint interest.
A. Menominee Tribal Legislature/Menominee County;
B. Menominee Tribal Legislature/Menominee Indian School District; and
C. Menominee Tribal Legislature/Menominee Tribal Enterprises.
The attached flowchart titled "MITW-Committee Flowchart" shall
be the official committee flowchart of the Tribe.
