Any person, owner, operator, occupant, association or corporation
is prohibited from trimming, cutting, girdling, defacing or otherwise
using or injuring any fruit, shade or ornamental tree, shrub or plant
standing in any of the streets, parks or public places of the City
of Amsterdam without first obtaining a permit from the City Clerk.
An inspection by the City Engineer shall be a prerequisite to the
issuance of any such permit.
It shall be unlawful for the owner of any premises abutting
on or adjacent to any public street or public place in the City of
Amsterdam to permit or maintain any tree on such premises which becomes
or is rotten, decayed, dead or dangerous so as to endanger the health,
safety or welfare of the public. All such trees are hereby declared
illegal, and it shall be the duty and responsibility of the owner
of said premises to cut and remove any such tree.
No person, owner, occupant, operator, association or corporation
shall cut, trim or remove any tree or trees more than eight inches
in diameter at the base, standing in any of the streets, parks or
public places of the City of Amsterdam or which, on being cut, trimmed
or removed, would fall on any street, park or public place of said
City, without first obtaining a permit from the City Clerk.
