There is hereby created the office of Municipal Prosecutor. The appointment to said office shall be made by the Township Committee.
The person to be appointed to said office shall have been duly admitted to the practice of law in the State of New Jersey and must be a member in good standing at the bar of the State of New Jersey at the time of his appointment and during the term of his office.

The term of office of said Municipal Prosecutor shall be one year.
The Municipal Prosecutor shall:
A. 
Conduct prosecutions for crimes and offenses cognizable by the Municipal Court of the Township of Union, except such crimes and offenses as it may be the duty of the County Prosecutor of the County of Union or the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey to prosecute, including violations of ordinances of said Township and complaints of any municipal department. Said Municipal Prosecutor shall also take all appeals from adverse decisions in said Municipal Court, when either required by law or authorized by the Township Committee of said Township or required by the rules of the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey.
B. 
Maintain a record of all actions, suits, proceedings and matters which relate to his official duties and report thereon from time to time, when requested, to the Township Committee of said Township.

A. 
The salary of the Municipal Prosecutor shall be provided by ordinance of the Township of Union. The sum shall be paid in equal installments as other salaries in the Township are paid.
B. 
The Municipal Prosecutor shall be eligible to participate in the group medical coverage provided by the Township, provided he or she reimburses the Township for the full amount of the premiums paid on their behalf on a monthly basis.
