All regular and special elections for the offices of Mayor and
Council of the City of Walhalla hereafter held shall be nonpartisan
general elections pursuant to S.C. Code Ann. § 5-15-61.
Public notice of election shall be given at least 90 days prior
to the date of election.

Qualified electors residing within the corporate limits of the
City of Walhalla shall declare their candidacy by filing a declaration
in writing and personally delivering the same to the Oconee County
Board of Elections and Voter Registration in accordance with its rules
and requirements. The names of candidates so certified to the Oconee
County Board of Elections and Voter Registration shall be printed
on the official ballots to be used in voting in the City.
The First Election shall be held on the first Tuesday following
the first Monday in November of each odd-numbered year commencing
in the year 1977. In the event a Second Election should be necessary
to decide a tie vote, such election shall be conducted two weeks after
the First Election.
The election results shall be determined in accordance with
the following rules:
A. When more than one person is seeking election to a single office,
the candidate who receives the highest number of votes shall be declared
elected.
B. When more persons are seeking election to two or more offices (constituting
a group) than there are offices to be filled, those candidates receiving
the highest number of votes, equal in number to the number of offices
to be filled, shall be declared elected.
