It shall be the policy of Suffolk County that whenever the County plants vegetation, at least two-thirds of the vegetation planted shall be species which are native to Suffolk County.
The County Department of Public Works and the County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation are hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to develop plans to ensure that at least two-thirds of the vegetation planted by their departments are species which are native to the County.
The Commissioners of the Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation shall provide a written copy of their finalized native vegetation plans to the County Executive, each member of the County Legislature, and the Clerk of the Legislature within 120 days.
